Highlight 1: Apple’s newest drop…the Apple Vision Pro!

Apple just dropped a revolutionary product two days ago during their developer conference with their latest creation – the Apple Vision Pro headset 💣. Imagine the fanciest ski goggles you've ever seen but with a serious sci-fi upgrade 😆.

At the conference, Apple gave us a glimpse of the product, that will be out in 2024. But what can they really do? 🕶️ Let us summarize it for you:

• It blends digital content with the real world, offering both augmented and immersive virtual reality experiences 😎.

• It uses cameras to map and overlay virtual elements onto the real world for augmented reality content 📹.

• For virtual reality experiences, the cameras are turned off, creating an isolated immersive environment 📴.

• The headset is controlled by eye tracking, hand gestures, and voice commands, eliminating the need for traditional controllers 👁️.

• Spatial Audio delivers an immersive sound experience, blending virtual audio with real-world audio 🔉.

However, where is all the AI-related news that we love? Actually, everyone was very surprised to realize that, at this conference, Apple did not jump into the hype train of AI, unlike Microsoft or Google. But why? Apple has always been a bit wary of the term "AI". They prefer to focus on the practical side of things and call it "machine learning" instead. But that does not mean we did not have any AI improvements in the Apple products during the conference 🍎:

• iOS 17 has a new amazing autocorrect that's powered by on-device machine learning. No more embarrassing text mishaps! 📥

• AirPods now have a Personalized Volume feature that uses machine learning to figure out the perfect sound for your environment and listening preferences 🎶.

• The watchOS Smart Stack got a major upgrade. It uses machine learning to show you the right information at the right time ⌚.

• And get this, the Vision Pro has these crazy 3D avatars for video calls. They're generated using advanced ML techniques. Apple said this was the most difficult part of creating the device 😎.

So yeah, Apple might not say "AI," but they're definitely bringing some serious machine learning to the table. With a price starting at $3,499 🤑, the Apple Vision Pro is set to hit the market in early 2024. It will be available on Apple.com and in select stores. Ready to see the world from a different perspective? 👓

Highlight 2: EU's Labeling Battle: Separating AI from Humans in the War Against Disinformation

The European Union (EU) is gearing up for a labeling showdown with tech giants like Google, Facebook, and Twitter. They want AI-generated content to come with a bright, shiny label to keep us in the know. 🛡️🚫

Here are some relevant facts you should know:

• The EU is committed to countering Russian disinformation campaigns, particularly in minority language content and Eastern Europe. 🔍

• The EU is determined to defend democracy and support Ukraine against disinformation. 💪

• Twitter better watch out! If they don't comply with the EU's new digital content laws by August 25th, they'll face swift sanctions. 🔥 

• Elon Musk's Twitter may have made a big mistake by leaving the EU's code. The EU is not impressed.

• The EU wants AI-generated content to wear its badge loud and proud with eye-catching labels 👀

While tech companies like Google have acknowledged the need to address fake news, the EU is urging them to take concrete steps and develop technologies to detect and combat misinformation effectively. With the EU closely monitoring compliance, social media platforms face intense scrutiny and potential consequences if they fail to meet the standards set forth by the EU.

In this labeling battle, time is ticking, and the EU is ready to keep up the fight against disinformation. Let's see who emerges victorious! 🏆
