Highlight 1: Claude is now The Fastest Reader in the World!

Anthropic’s Claude now has a context window of 100K tokens, which is around 75,000 words! Think about it closely, a human can read 100,000 words in around 5 hours. Claude can now do that in seconds🤯.

You may have heard about Anthropic, an AI research and development company founded by ex-members of OpenAI, whose focus is building safe and responsible AI systems that will benefit humanity ✨.

This all sounds great, but what we want to talk to you about today is Claude, Anthropic’s main AI chatbot. It is designed to help you think better through summarization, collaborative writing, code generation, and Q&A. For example, it helps with many tasks, including summarizing and explaining dense documents, analyzing strategic risks and opportunities regarding the prompt, or assessing the pros and cons of boring and long articles 🪄.

But we are not here to talk about the model itself, but about its newest feature. Anthropic released a statement a couple of days ago saying that they were extending Claude’s context window to 100K tokens. But what does this all gibberish mean? No worries, we got you 😉:

• A context window is the amount of text that an AI model can see at once. Basically, how large the size of the input (or prompt) is. The larger the context window, the more information the AI model can work with.

• A token is a small unit of text that the model “understands” from the context window. For example, the word "the" is a token.

So that you have an idea, these are examples of what 75,000 words are:

• The complete book of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 📚

• The 200 pages of the papers of both PaLM2 and GPT-4 💻

• 6 hours of podcast transcriptions 🔊

Having a larger context window allows Claude 100K to understand the big picture. That way, it will help locate errors, summarize, and explain huge amounts of the data provided in the prompt. Here, you can find a video that walks you through the wonders of this amazing new feature. Mind-blowing 💥!

Highlight 2: EU Targets Open-Source Software(Generated by the author)

The EU is currently drafting an AI Act that would ban American companies from providing API access (the raw database used from an existing model so that it can be integrated into another model) to generative AI startups. This would be a major blow to the open-source community, as it would make it much more difficult for developers to use these models for research and development and create new ones💥.

The act reads: 💰"Any model made available in the EU, without first passing extensive, and expensive, licensing, would subject companies to massive fines of the greater of €20,000,000 or 4% of worldwide revenue”💸.

Here are some of the main points of the act:

• It would ban API access to generative AI models, which would make it much more difficult for developers to use these models for research and development 🚫.

• It would impose strict licensing requirements on companies that want to use generative AI models in the EU. These requirements would be expensive and time-consuming to meet, and they could reduce innovation in the AI industry 🤚🏽.

• The act is extraterritorial, which means that it could be enforced against companies that are not located in the EU (US developers). This could have a chilling effect on innovation and investment in the AI industry 🌎.

With this legislation, AI innovators in Europe will not be able to compete with the big companies that are working in this field, making AI researchers and scientists have to move to other countries to continue with their innovative projects. Knowing how transformative and important this technology is, the AI Act will make Europe a secondary destination for innovators passionate about Artificial Intelligence ❌.

Highlight 3: Elon Musk Introduces TruthGPT, the new, ‘truth-seeking’ AI Chatbot under a new AI company

• TruthGPT, under Musk’s new AI company: X.AI, is a proposed AI chatbot model aimed at providing users with the most accurate and truthful information. 🕵🏼

• Elon Musk has expressed concerns about AI safety and believes companies like OpenAI and Google are not performing well in this area.

• TruthGPT would likely have a similar architecture to ChatGPT but would prioritize training on data from reliable sources.

• Developing TruthGPT poses challenges due to the reliance on internet datasets that can contain misleading or inaccurate content and addressing AI bias. 🔍

• Legal risks and copyright concerns related to content generated by AI systems add further complexity to the development and deployment of generative AI. 👩🏼‍⚖️
