News Reel:
Highlight 1: ChatGPT users can now turn off chat history
ChatGPT users can now turn off chat history 📴, which allows them to choose if their data will be used to train the models. You can disable chat history by:
2. Click on your profile
3. Click on Settings
4. Click on "Show"
5. Disable "Chat History and Training"
Conversations that are started when chat history is disabled won’t be used to train and improve GPT models, and won’t appear in the history sidebar.
When chat history is disabled, OpenAI will retain new conversations for 30 days and review them only when needed to monitor for abuse, before permanently deleting.
We will keep you up to date with all OpenAI updates. In the meantime, read the detailed article here.
Highlight 2: Accountants are still safe from losing their jobs
GPT-4 has passed the bar with a 90th percentile🤯, passed 13 out of 15 AP exams, and even achieved a near-perfect score in the GRE Verbal Test💯; however, accounting still isn’t one of its strong suits. Here’s what happened:
ChatGPT faced off against students on accounting assessments. Students scored an overall average of 76.7%, compared to ChatGPT's score of 47.4%.
On 11.3% of questions, ChatGPT scored higher than the student average, doing particularly well on AIS (Accounting Information Systems) and auditing.
But the AI bot did worse on tax, financial, and managerial assessments, possibly because ChatGPT struggled with the mathematical processes required for the latter type🧮.
When it came to question type, ChatGPT did better on true/false questions (68.7% correct) and multiple-choice questions (59.5%), but struggled with short-answer questions (between 28.7% and 39.1%).

Here some fun facts found from the study:
ChatGPT often provides explanations for its answers, even if they are incorrect ❌. Other times, ChatGPT's descriptions are accurate, but it will then proceed to select the wrong multiple-choice answer.
ChatGPT sometimes makes up facts. For example, when providing a reference, it generates a real-looking reference that is completely fabricated. The work and sometimes the authors do not even exist 🧠.

Highlight 3: Bill Gates says that AI will teach children literacy in 18 months
In a fireside chat at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego, Gates explained that the “AIs will get to that ability, to be as good a tutor as any human ever could.” 🧑🏫

Here’s the summary of what he said:
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates believes AI chatbots will be capable of improving children’s reading and writing skills within 18 months🔡
Chatbots have shown the ability to summarize, offer feedback, and even write essays 📜.
The technology must still improve before becoming a viable tutor and must get better at reading and recreating human language.
Gates believes AI chatbots could help make private tutoring available to a wider range of students who may not otherwise be able to afford it🪙.
